the poem rises like a teacher
four years before retirement
up before dawn with the moon
awash in lit clouds, spheric Sufi
fabric spinning around the center
of its still eye, and she stands
in the quiet drizzle, starts to move
her arms like that, a prayer
silking around her bright heart
along an imperceptible trajectory
across epochs of everything dark
